Project Overview
Client: Formulo, an early stage medtech startup
Industry: D2C E-Commerce
Timeline: 2024 - 2025
My Role: Brand and UI/UX Designer
Context
By debunking the myth that skincare is only for women, Formulo promotes inclusive self-care and empowers men to take control of their skin health through professional guidance and tailored solutions on its website.
How Did I Add Value?
As the sole designer in a lean startup, I implemented a tokenized design system and implemented a new streamlined workflow to accelerate delivery.
Discovery
Internal Findings
Through collaboration with the development team, we found that some components required more effort than the project timeline allowed.
Problem
Shipping components to code
In the lean startup environment, completing sprints every week was necessary. Despite being the only designer in the team, I was still out-pacing the developers in our development pipeline.
The Challenge
The components were too complex/ambitious. After review, the dev team concluded that there would be too many time constraints to effectively develop each one. It was ideal to make the coding part of the project as fast as possible, while maintaining a clean and functional UI.
My Solution
To address these issues and improve efficiency, we decided to change our development pipeline with help from react.js libraries and creating components & its variants using figma

Calendar Component and its variant made for consistent design across the website

Created nested components of cards and its multiple variants using properties and interaction prototyping

Desktop view of patient's dashboard with prescription showcased using cards

Mobile view of introducing formulo's dermatology consultant with relevant details

Mobile view mockup of showing how formulo is going to remind the patient with tips and personalized notifications for building trust and assurance
